Women in Pink Scholarships
Scholarships for women cancer survivors
In 2002, Pink Door Founder Cortney A. Cole’s mother Gayl Ann Gronauer Cole dream was to obtain her baccalaureate degree in Art History at the University of Houston. Though Gayl had every intention of completing this goal, breast cancer had made its way as a priority in her life. On August 25, 2005, Gayl had passed not fulfilling her dream. Based upon Gayl’s experience, Pink Door’s Founder and Board Members felt as though having a scholarship program that enables women cancer survivors the financial opportunity to earn their baccalaureate or master’s degree will also help to create hope after cancer. Therefore, Pink Door’s “Women In Pink” Scholarship Fund was created embracing Gayl’s dream. Today, Pink Door has a budget of one $2,500.00 scholarship that will be awarded to one woman cancer survivor in 2012. The last day to apply for Pink Door’s 2012 “Women In Pink” Scholarship Application is November 15th, 2011.
